    Position Description

    The mission of the Anoka County Facilities Management & Construction department is to provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained environment at the highest standard of excellence for the citizens and employees of Anoka County.

     

    The department has an immediate opening for a Finishes Installer, who will be responsible for applying the final touches on Anoka County construction projects. Key responsibilities include working with carpentry, flooring, painting, ceilings, wallcoverings, furnishings, and other interior finishes. This role plays a vital part in ensuring each project is completed to specification by conducting quality checks, performing detailed finishing work, and polishing where needed to deliver a high-quality final product. This position is also responsible for coordinating work with both internal and external clients and maintaining project records.

     

    This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position. Interviews will begin the week of August 4th, 2025, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. 

     

    Pay & Benefits

    • Salary: $57,262 to $67,288 ($27.53 to $32.35 per hour).

    • 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 30: $57,262 to $77,292 ($27.53 to $37.16 per hour).

    Work Location

    • This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.

    • Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.

     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities
    These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Finishes Installer.

    • Apply paint, stain, and coatings to walls, ceilings, and buildings in Anoka County facilities.

    • Cut, fit, and attach fabric, leather, Naugahyde, etc., to decorative panels, using cement or other fasteners as required.

    • Cut, fit, and install a variety of flooring; perform functional checks on installed systems.

    • Proper and safe use of power tools and hand tools; hauling of material and tools; site clean-up; follow safety guidelines while on job sites or working in a shop.

    • Demolition and tear down.

    • Door and window installation; installation of interior trim, base, casing, crown molding, etc.; finish/trim work of millwork and other decorative elements.

    • Cabinets, shelves, and other storage solutions installation.

    • Suspended ceiling installation.

    • Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings to determine requirements for interior finishing work.

    • Selecting, measuring, and marking materials for interior paneling, trim or moldings.

    • Assist in installing wood and plastic paneling on walls and doors, while maintaining an aesthetic look of the surface.

    • Communicate with team and clients effectively and professionally.

     

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

    • Four years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.

    • Knowledge of general principles of finishes installation and construction.

    • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

    • Knowledge of building and construction codes and regulations.

    • Successfully pass driver’s license background check.

    • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.

    • Ability to use Computer Maintenance Management software.

     

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

    • Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes and OSHA safety standards.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Excellent customer service skills.

    • Ability to detect, discern, and tolerate a wide range of scents required for safety and performance of essential duties.

    • Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills.

    • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing.

    • Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling/carrying equipment.

    • Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.

    • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to construction equipment depending on assignment; equipment may include but is not limited to ladders, shovels, power saws, drills, routers, grinders, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, sewer augers, pipe threaders, pumps, scaffolding, hand and power tools, vacuum, brooms, floor buffers and scrubbers and other floor cleaning equipment, pallet jacks, push/pull carts, chemicals, and personal protective equipment.

    • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.

    • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.

    • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, prolonged vibration from machinery, and other hazards is possible while performing essential duties.
