Biomedical Technology Camp - NEW
Wednesday, July 9, 2014 - Friday, July 11, 2014

This is a brand new camp for 2014. Biomedical Technology touches lives each day from a simple bandage to a high tech pacemaker. Minnesota is home to over 400 FDA regulated medical device companies and the corporate headquarters of both Medtronic and St. Jude Medical. Learn how devices are used to treat and diagnose medical conditions. Tour local medical device manufacturers and see the advanced manufacturing that goes into making a medical device. Discover the history of the medical device industry in Minnesota and how it all started by a man named Earl Bakken (a visit to the Bakken Museum). Students will build their own heart-rate monitor (they can bring home) and also conduct a heart dissection. This is a "hands-on" camp that will introduce you to STEM careers that are changing lives!
Registration Closes on Friday, May 23, 2014.
Students will need to complete two short essays as part of the registration process. The essays will be reviewed by the camp staff and used as a method for camper selection.
